Hi twildbill5,

Try to check the status of activity packet sent and received from your new laptop connected to LINKSYS, if this activity does not increasing, please proceed this procedure.

1.) Open your wife laptop make it sure it is working with LINKSYS and try to get info of the assigned  IP from your network properties TCP/IP.

2.) Copy the IP Address, Subnet, Gateway, primary DNS, and alternative DNS.

3.) Then paste it into your new laptop network properties.

4.) Then return the LINKSYS to your new laptop and try to browse the internet.

If still the problem persist please give me the following details I need to troubleshoot.

a) What is  operating system did you used from the old one and the new one laptop.
b) What is the name of your anti-virus installed?

Hope you enjoy my solution. Don't be hesitate to post again further question's you need I am glad to help you.

Best Regards,

Philip

Your new laptop,

Are you searching for a new wireless network? Then your router doesn't show up on the list of networks?

I can rephrase if need be.
