Trying to update my NUVI 370 with the disk Garmin just sent. It all goes well then eventually says update failed. retry does nothing. Now there don't seem to be any maps in the NUVI at all.

Same here. Always fails at 90%. Even after clearing off extra voices and vehicles from the GPS device (also a c550).
Garmin told me they hadn't heard of this particular problem, but it seems suspicious that we've got at least the three of us with c550s and the exact same failure mode.
Even copying the files to the GPS "hard drive" manually results in a failure - something along the lines of an I/O error writing to the device... but always at the same point in the copy, regardless of how much space has been freed up... and there's plenty of free space for the img files to get copied there.
