The switch may be the problem but it also may be the monitors internal power supply. To check you can open the case by the little switch and remove the plunger ( the little pin that moves up and down) If you get a picture back then the switch is the problem and you will have to bend the flat spring up to give it a little more movement. I would be if the monitor is about 2-3 years old that the problem is in the power supply board. After a few years many LCD monitors have issues with the power boards blowing capacitors. It happens on desktop monitors and rack mount units too. If you have an external power adapter for the monitor check the voltage output and replace if it is not steady. If the power supply is internal to the monitor then you will need to open the case and check the capacitors for heat damage. Check our site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm for pictures of what to look for. Replace any that look like the pictures and you should be back going again. The values that you will need are going to be marked on the sides of the bad caps. Be sure to use a high temp replacement or the problem will be back in a month or two.
