What operating system are you running? How big is the swap file in your system?
What about the amount of RAM in your system?
I guess I should explain where I'm going with my questions. I've seen issues like yours before and it's normally due to the fact that there isn't enough memory to handle the applications involved. You mention that the problems you are having with are the newer games, yes, newer games require more memory. The swap file in a system should be two and a half times the amount of physical memory. If you know how to change the swap file, you should increase it. I believe in XP, the max you can set it to is 4096, set it to the mininum and the maximum and then reboot. Also, in your boot.ini, you should add a /PAE switch. This tells XP to use the maximum amount of memory for the application running, which in the case of XP it is 4Gig.

Try that when you get a chance and let me know if it works.
Possibly, but too early to say, Do you know how to access Even Viewer? Can you look in there to see if you have any errors under Application or System? It's possible too that your video card vendor has created a log system in there. Normally there are 3areas, Application, Security and System. If there's a 4th one, it might be the video card vendor. Let me know again.

You said you had the latest drivers for the graphics card, did you also installed the latest BIOS for it? Version 9442.11.10.0.2.AS01 ??
I would like to get a look at your system if at all possible...I have the ability to remote into your system. It would be a one time access, but it would be faster than this back and forth. Window xp home edition sp3. the swap file is 2046mb
2gb Ram, the max it accepted was 4092 in the swap file.
I tried what you said and played gta4 (tried to) however instead of rebooting it gave me an error of Out of Video Memory, and then rebooted. like i said the graphics card has the latest drivers, some issue with compatibility?
