Release button Where is the release button to adjust the vaccum from its upright position, so I could vaccum carpet?

There is no button. You are supposed to place your foot on the area above the rolling brush and hold the base down while pulling the handle back.
There is a small metal clip under the vacuum that you should bend out a bit to make it easier to release. Unplug and flip the vacuum over. It is right in the middle between the back wheels. Use a pair of pliers. Don't bend it too far or it won't stay up when you want it to!
