F DL Error Code

exact same thing...Had F11 errors for last two days, so we cleaned out drain, which was bad, as suggested on another board...seemed great, worked the best it had in a long time, tried to wash the towels from sopping up above mentioned drain, and immediatly get dl/F! Getting pretty darn frustrated...love this washer, but seems to be WAY too many people having exact same issues. This machine is a lemon. Ours is almost 3 years old. Lots of shaking in the first year, now no longer words due to F-11 and F-DL. 3 minimally competent Sears repairmen during the one-year warrantee achieved temporary improvement and added a plywood base (on our concrete slab - Seems it has a "walking" problem which throws the machine off level...which, by the way, is not what the manual means by "level surface...less than 1" slope).

We have the pedestal, which is a nice feature, but which accentuates the shaking. Sears recently allowed me a free tech consult, which was nice of them. He did not disagree that the machine is a lemon; said pedestal not a good choice. He also did not speak highly of the "Dynamic Balance" routine, explaining that it was not a fail-safe or even a usually effective way to ensure balanced loads.

Sears suggests purchasing an extended warrantee, good for a year, at the low cost of $300. If necessary repairs will exceed $500, Sears simply hands you a $500 voucher toward a new machine. Not a bad deal for Sears, since they stand to lose nothing. Sears really goes out on a limb for this machine. Incidentally, the tech who just looked at my machine gave me a $580 estimate to replace the CCU and the door lock.

I frankly am somewhat sympathetic with Sears. I think Whirlpool gave them a raw deal on this machine. It is inadequately designed. For $1200 a washer should have vibration sensors. The new ones still don't; rather, they have a switch on the side that shuts the machine off if the drum hits it. That's pretty darned clever, Whirlpool!!

I purchased a $600 Frigidaire front loader in 2001, which has never had so much as a sneeze. No vibrations. No repairmen. No brainer: don't buy a Whirlpool again. This machine is a lemon.
