Won't turn on

If you battery pack is swollen, then the worst thing to do is keep it in there and let it turn off and back on -- this could cause permanent damage to the device and could harm you as well.

Try and find a new battery on Ebay, CellPhoneShop.net, etc. and see if the problem is the battery or not. If it is, then that is the simple solution.

If the new battery doesn't fix it, then the situation is a little more sticky. Since the Audiovox 8910 is a fairly old phone, it is unlikely that you have any warranty left on the phone (unless you have insurance or have purchased it through Virgin Mobile, which in that case, go ahead and file the insurance claim or call VM and ask for a replacement or buy a refurbished one). 

Most likely you will come out cheaper just buying a new phone altogether or finding a nice used one on Ebay.
