Cartidge problem My Cousin asked me look at why her C48 would not recognise, so called compatible cartidges. Her brother had purchased two color and 2 BW from a local dealer but these are not recognised. When the old cartridges were replaced the error report had changed from out of ink to unrecognised again. She had removed the removal strip from all the new ones but these were not physically the same beneath the romoval strip as her original ones although the cartridges were marked Epson C48 The rest of the container looked identical to tje old ones. Q: has the replacing attempt damaged the printer and what action shpuld she take next Thanks in anticipation Tony

I replaced the black ink cartridge and there was still colour left. When the colour cartridge got low the printer would not work and I could not fit a new colour cartrige. Eventually I managed to get the cartridge in the position to remove the old colour cartridge and fitted a new colour cartridget but unfortunately the printer is still not working.

Many "compatible" cartridges are badly manufactured or even labeld wrong. These can damage or block the connectors on Epson printers. your best bet is go buy new ink and try them, then if it still dont recognise, you could buy some ink cleaning cartiridges and give them a try - Google "Epson Print Head cleaning" Failing that go buy a new printer - Epson's are real cheap new.
