Initial Setup Screen

The Initial Setup screen appears intermittently during programs. It can be removed by touching any button, but returns in awhile. Sometimes it doesn't come on for days. Any ideas?

Thank you for your suggestion, but the screen has never been cleaned with a liquid...only a damp cloth. I have checked for residue, but doesn't appear to be any. If you come up with any oter causes let me know. Thanks

Have you ever cleaned the set front glass with windex or glass cleaner.Sometimes the fluid runs down before you can wipe and lands inside right on top of the push buttons that control ( CH,VOL, MENU, etc.) If this happens you can get this trouble. If you up to it take the cover off and look at the board just under the front edge of the crt. If you see green or grey residue you probably have to remove that corresponding TAC switch. You can just cut out and use the remote for that function.

Sometimes the switches become leaky by them selves. The best way to tell is to remove the front pannel switches from the circuit. Sometimes it's easy there may be a plug connecting to the main chasis. Just disconnect, the set will work ok but you wont have control. If your IR IC, (the device the receives the signal from your hand transmitter) is on a seperate connecton your in the clear. You can leave it off for a while to test if the swiches are the troble. I have had this a few times over my 35 years in the biz.
