Hi there,did u successfull upgrade?
According to this cnet.com (http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-5100-pentium/4505-3118_7-31429803.html) the dual core is not an option. I'm not sure if that means that Dell doesn't offer an upgrade, or if it's not possible. First, open your tower and look over the Motherboard for the manufacturer and model. Once you have those, google them and look for the specs of what cpu's are supported by that motherboard. If you can and do decide to upgrade, check with the CPU manufacturer to see how strong of a power supply you need for the more powerful CPU. You're might be ok, but you might need to upgrade the PSU (Power supply) with the processor. From your description, I can't tell what motherboard is in your Dell. That will be the limiting factor. Get the motherboard specs and you'll know what you can do.
