Error I keep getting, intermitently, an error 99 that asked me to turn off camera and does not allow further picture taking. It also asks to remove and put battery back in. Sometimes this allows me to take more pictures.

When I attempt to take a photo in fully automatic mode, the flash pops up, the LCD reads 'busy' and then an error 99 code pops up, suggesting that I turn the camera off and on or remove the battery.

I have the exact same problem re error 99 please remove or change battery pack and switch camera off... It's very frustrating and there is no pattern as to when the error message will decide to come up. I know it's not the battery because I have recharged many times and tried multiple batteries. Sometimes I can take up to 20 photos before the msg comes up and other times only 1 or 2.

I removed the lense and tried to shoot in AF mode. Still encountered the same problem. I returned the camera and exchanged it for another. New camera works fine. This appears to be an intermittent software problem with these cameras. If you encounter this problem, my suggestion is to exchange it.

Hi

make sure the lens contact points are clean and dust free
error 99 generally occurs when lens is changed and dirt gets in
remove lens and clean points on the lens and camera body
try another lens if you can
