Scopes The elevation turret on my scope is loose ... it is an older scope , a Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5 - 5 x 20 , made in the Philippines , is it worth repairing ?

your best bet is to locate your local shooting club and ask someone experienced with specialist scopes. As for now, all I can suggest is to sight the scope in at 3x power. I'm not sure about a boresight on this scope, since is is at the extreme budget end of zoom scopes. The reference distances will vary according to several factors, including but not exclusively: bullet weight, muzzle velocity, firing angle, windage adjust, wind direction.

it is repaireable but its going to cost more that a new scope,, your one has shook its self apart,, to fix it it needs to be striped right down all the glass will need to be cleaned and after the repair it will need to be refilled with gas,,,,so its not worth the cost of a repair,,sorry

water has got into it, it could be repaired but its not cheap to do, it needs a complet strip down all the class cleand and new seals then a re-gas and it should be as good as new for another 25 years or so,
any good scope with mill dot will work for you, you just need to relurn the bullet drop over again,,and with the years of shooting you have had that should come easy as falling over,,,why not just get a good prised 3/9x40 mill dot and try that out insted, you will be plesently pleased with todays mid priced range scopes treet your self, and save money at the same time
