What is Feature 806? We don't have a manual!

  • laverner Mar 24, 2009

Clicked on "solution" -- will not upload.

Yes, there is voicemail -- just can't tell by looking at the phone that one has arrived.

  • laverner Mar 25, 2009

We can't find a "Feature" button. We tried #806 with the receiver off the hook & got a fast busy signal. Then we tried it with it on the hook & got nothing. So where is the "Feature" button? Thanks so much!

  • laverner Mar 25, 2009

We tried the Feature 806 (thanks for helping us find the Feature button!), turned the static date & time off, but still get no notification light indicating there is a message in the voice mail box. Any other suggestions?

  • laverner Mar 25, 2009

Thank you for your patience & your assistance -- Both Feature #806 and Feature 806 were tried, but neither made a light come on which would signal a voice mail message (a third party left a message as a test each time). We have about decided there is no notification light for a voice mail message on this particular phone. Thanks again!

Don't know what system we're running & our tech guy is gone for a couple of weeks. Let's just forget it -- you've been great! Thank you!!

Have you tried a FEATURE #806

Feature 806 means Static time and date, but sometimes it shuts off the message waiting indicator lamp???
Not too sure why, but give it a try.

read the comment in the solution what Feature 806 is.

So I take it that did not work?

Are you sure ~ this extension has a voicemail?

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2009

    Feature 8 0 6 means Static Time and Date;

when you dial FEATURE 806 this keeps the time and date on the set...

So to disable the Static Time and date you need to dial from the set FEATURE #806 to shut off this feature.

Try going to the set, dial Feature #806, unplug the set and plug it back in, and test it... meaning, goto a set do a feature 980 dial the extension and leave a message for the set, go back and check if there is a message indicator.

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2009

By the way, when you go into your voicemail, you dial:

    FEATURE 9 8 1

does it say; password or Log on the screen?

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2009

The GRAY button on the top of the set.

    That is the Feature button.

Just dialing #806 will not do anything (as you saw), because #806 is not programmed in the system to do anything... hence the fast busy signal.

So go to the set, press the Gray button with the funny Nortel symbol then dial # 8 0 6... that will shut off the Static Time and Date feature of the set. That may fix your no voicemail issue.

Is it a new message in the mailbox-or- if it's an old message, there will not be any message indicator to display...

Easiest way is to test - is to:

    -> do a feature 9 8 0 on your set

-> type in the extension of the phone with the issue and leave a message

-> then check to see if there is an indicator.

Oh and you went FEATURE # 8 0 6 right, not just Feature806...

Feature 806 turns on the static time and date...

By the way, after all of this, what is a Nortel N441 set?

I tried to Google Nortel N441 and there is one picture of a T7100 series phone, so I assume that it is the same phone.

What type of Nortel system are you running?

Is it a BCM series, CICs, MICs, M1 system...

I guess I should have asked this first, I was assuming that you are running a MICs/CICs system 4.1 and higher.

You know what happens when you assume...
