This is hard drive failure. If you another code other than 003 you may have gotten away with a scan disk, but not always. in your case the hard drive has died. a Canon Technician will need to replace it and re-install the machine's system software

to clear the error do the following.
press additionel functionel* button & press 2&8 at a time &press additionel functionel button* select COPIER>FUN CTION>CLEAR>ERROR>OK.

this is a reader board error ... 1st check all connectors on the machine unplug and replug did this just happen or could there be a connector missing, this code usually comes from the connecter that looks like a small parrellel connector on rear going from scanner to right rear side

I think - The fixing film sensor is faulty.
Caution To clear the error, execute the following in service mode:
