My function keys are not working. (For instance fn +f2 or f3 do not brighten/darken the screen; fn+f8/f9 do not turn volume up or down.) THey used to work. Did I change a setting? How can I fix this?
Did you try just pressing them without Fn or try pressing them with Alt key, and if not working:
go to Start
type in Function keys and click on Function keys
check the checkbox
you're done!!

You have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of your keyboard then hit the volume or brightness keys. Notice that the volume and brightness keys are the same color as the FN function key. That means you have to press and hold the FN key while you hit the volume or brightness key.

FN+ F buttons are used as a shortcut. For example, in my laptop, F1 button has a ? icone at the bottom. when a pres Fn+F1, it will launch the help program. F1 to F12 buttons have different shortcuts.
