I can not get my scanner to scan - Xerox WorkCentre M15i Laser Printer

  • barbara57 Feb 25, 2009

In my case, the scanner went through the motions of scanning, but the image produced (whether to a file, a fax or a copy) was very pale, mostly illegible in the middle 3/4 of the page with just two vertical areas on the right and left sides that had any image at all. Here's the weird part: after we relocated the machine to a different room, the scanning resumed working properly! There is probably some electrical or mechanical problem that fixed itself in the move, but I'm not confident that it will stay fixed.

Do you mean the lamp will not scan, or that you can not do scan to file? Not sure which you are referencing.

If the lamp simply will not move then the green latch on the bottom of the scanner is locked and holding the scan head in the locked position.
If it is a scan to network issue or scan to E-mail you need to use a USB or parallell cable and you may have to change the USB port speed, But without knowing which problem you have I am not sure exactly where to head with this problem.
The scanner lock is located on the underside of the scanner. If you look in where you reach to remoce your copies, you will see on the bottom of the scanner a green latch, about 2 inches long and a half an inch wide. Push it in then pull it toward you until you feel it snap locked . Then power the machine off and back on.
