I have an Acer notebook that is new and fine. I bought a Belkin F8E466 numeric keypad. My problem is the keypad will only input numbers when I press the NumLock on the keypad. this would be fine, except the keys on the notebook such as J, K, L, and such are now the second function of numeric entry. If I wish to enter the normal alpha characters I have to undo the keypad NumLock. I am constantly jumping back and forth. I tried a friends older Targus keypad and it will enter numbers when it's NumLock is on but leaves the notebook keyboard in alpha mode as I believe it should. My OS is Vista. Is there a fix for this? Thanks for any help.
I don't think there is a solution for this, this is by design Probably on your friend's keypad there are only numbers and no arrow functions on 2 4 6 and 8?

Targus external keypad via USB port is operational but only in arow format. When I activbate the numlock function on the keyboard (FN & Numlk (F11)) it works but then I am unable to use the letters U, I, O, K, L, J, M as they are now numlocked. This only happens in a terminal session?
