How do I remove the display panel from an Acer 3000 series laptop?

If you just want to remove the LCD and not the entire lid you can:

remove the four rubber nubs at the corners. Under these there should be 4 screws. remove these and carefully and set aside

pull up the faceplate.

There should be a series of screws on the bottom of the bracket holding the LCD in. Remove those screw (there should be 10 or so, 5 on each side) There may also be some at the top of the lcd. if there are remove these too, being sure they are not the screws holding in the latch mechanism. This will allow you to swing the lcd forward without the lid top.

Then you can pull the lcd unit away from the top of the lid, so that you can get to the connectors in back. Carefully remove ribbon connector. below the screen, carefully disconnect wires form either of the ports on the inverter. then, remove tape holding all wires to the back/bottom of the lcd.

Fianlly look at the sides of the lcd. there are two screws on either side, on top one bottom holding it to the brackets. remove theses carefully and the lcd should be free. Do reverse to reinstall.

I hope this helped. I just replaced the LCD panel in my Aspire 3004WLMi yesterday. Its really not that bad to take apart. ive done this many times before trying to figure out what was wrong with the LCD i replaced.

Remove the 3 screws at the Base of the Screen, Open the Screen all the way horizontally, and Take off the Trim Piece covering the Buttons. Remove the Cover to the RAM/Wireless Bay, and remove the Two Wires on the Wireless Card. (Be Sure to Close the Laptop before you remove the either the Upper Trim Cover or the RAM/Wireless Bay Cover.) Remove the Keyboard, and pull the Wireless Antenna Cable through the Case and out of the Machine. Remove the Ribbon Cable from the Motherboard, and remove the 4 screws securing the screen to the rest of the Laptop. installation is reverse of Removal.
