Hi,
I own a Canon MF4830 and am having problems sending scanned documents to email. The TX report says that the 'TX function was not completed'. i guess my question is in two parts;
1: What is a TX function.
2. How can I fix the scan to email problem. (Does my printer need to have it's own email address in order to send to email?)

You need to set the scan settings in copier settings 200dpi 300dpi color or black and white....

call the other fax machine with a cell phone, listen for fax tones.
plug a regular phone in the jack to check for a dial tone.
make sure phone cord is plugged into the LINE port of yhe fax machine.
SOURCE: need to turn off report after every fax sent
Press [function] button and then [dataregistration] on the display dataregistration will be displayed,press [ok] user settings will be dislpayed,press the arrow down until you find report settings press [ok], tx report will be displayed,Press [ok] again.It will show on the screen "output yes",press the arrow untill it show "output no" and press [ok] again.
Thats it.

The ID on the TX report only show the ID if the ID is programed on the fax machine you send it to.The only way is to ask the destinated party to program the Fax name.

These units usually scan to memory then memory to phone, if there is a lot of items in memory then you may have to clear the memory, and try again, if this is a first, then the machine may not have enough Fax memory to complete the task. consult your manual, you can either add memory or switch the machine to fax directly on these jobs, this is slower than using memory but should get the job done.
hope this is of some help.
