Everytime you plug your iPhone into iTunes for a sync it makes a backup. Here are the instructions from Apple to restore a backup from iTunes.

If you reformat it ALL will be lost on the hard drive if that is what you reformat. Then you will have to do a cold start using the Windows installation disks from scratch. This is a LAST ditch thing to do.

To reformat the hard drive completely you will have to use the utilities on your Windows installation disks which you may or may not have. Make sure you have your serial number and the necessary stuff to re-activate Windows and ALL other software disks for all the programs you have been using. Also any data you have such as photos, etc must all be saved on other medi that you can reload after reformatting and reinstalling Windows...

I think it is UNLIKELY you REALLY want to reformat the hard drive in your machine... It may take you days of work and frustration to complelwtely restore the machine after a reeformat of the hard drive.

I had to reinstall Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit and then Drivers and Utilities on my Vostro 1500 and now can not find Microsoft Office, Word, Excel ect. I am very limited on what I know to do and it...

They are gone ... when you reinstalled the software .(Vista) .. you should have seen a screen that said Windows will now reformat your drive ... all data will be lost ... are you sure you want to proceed? You clicked YES and the drive was reformatted. When it was reformatted, everything was lost.

If you have the Office license, you can reinstall the software. If you don't have the license, you will have to get new.

If you are interested ... there is a teriffic program called Open Office that does essentially the same as the Microsoft product. It is free to look at and free to use ... find it here: http://download.openoffice.org/

They will ask you for money but there is no FEE to use the program, ever. If you want to pay them somethning, that will be appreciated.

photos lost after reformat can be recovered with a professional photo recovery program, recommended asoftech photo recovery as the program helped me before

Unmountable boot volume is Hard Disk Partition lost.
There are two partition on hard disk, one is NTFS & FAT32, if this two partition are damage or lost, then you have lost your data also.
Reformat on it are the best way result and put new windows system.

You can recover your pictures after reformat by using a program RECOVERMYFILES, this program even when your windows system got reformatted can recover all of it.

I have Window Vista on a HP conputer. I have 3 companies on Quick Books. Turned off the computer on Friday working fine. Turn back on Sat evening and the computer message was all programs lost reboot...

if you reformatted the drive the data was on (as well as where the backup was (don't backup data from one hard drive to the SAME hard drive)), then all hope isn't lost. go to download.com and look for file restoring programs. a number of them are free and can recover data on hard drives as long as their sectors haven't been rewritten.

Download a program called "media monkey" it will sync with your mp3 player automatically and does lots of other cool stuff too, and it's free.
