My Media Center stopped working after the SP3 upgrade. I had to upgrade otherwise I won't be able to get security updates from Microsoft. I was able to fix some of the Error Messages except for Messenger Failure. It says "Media Center was unable to open Messenger. Please make sure that Windows Messenger is installed in your system". I have Windows Messenger installed and updated in my system. I don't understand why MCE cannot recognize or open it. Can you tell me what the problem is?
Can't get media center to work anymore. It locks up soon as I click to open?
SP3 issue. you can uninstall SP3 and then hide it so that you will continue to receive other updates. Every 2 weeks you should unhide it and try another install. If problem persists you may need to reinstall OS from disk. Follow directions closely so that you won't loose any files.
Glad you resolved the issue. Where did you learn about patch?
My media center hadn't worked until I finally got Vista SP1 which took over 18 months to finally install once I reinstalled OS.
A lot of my clients have had issues with SP3 that get resolved when I reinstall the SP, thus my reason for suggesting to you.

Mike

I don't think that is a good solution, I was able to solve my problem without uninstalling SP3. The only solution was to apply a registry patch. Right now, my Media Center is just working fine.
