You broke the tab on the back of the paper cassette. if you look in where the cassette goes on the back left you will see a hole with a sensor that looks kinda like a upside down letter U . put paper inbetween the sensor and the machine should say out of paper and put the cassette back and you should be fine

When I was attempting to unload and reload the cassette nothing changed. When the nurse working in this dept (at a hospital) tried the same thing it magically started working.
We were both there and did nothing different so the cassette must have had to be in "just right". Hopefully this doesn't happen again, who knows what it will want then, a steak dinner?
