I tried.. and work fine ... but just for a short time.
The real problem is not here but seems to be in an internal defect capacitor.
Hi all, same problem happened also with my S304. I' ve deassembled it and there IS an internal battery on one of the pcb's inside. So, i'm sure that if this is replaced by a new one, this problem should be fixed. Replacement will be a little bit tricky as the battery is soldered internally. If i have found the right type of battery, i'll post it, but this can take a little time ;-) F

Replacing the internal battery seams a bit too much if a fiddle.
The problem was largely solved when I used Energiser 'lithium' batteries to power the camera because they run the camera for months and months and hundreds of of photographs, so the time and date can be forgotten about for a very long time.
