Button issues I have a set of 3 cordless phones that aren't that old. When I press the numbers on the phones, the buttons barely respond. On two of the three, the ON and OFF buttons don't work at all. I have to push the handsfree button twice to answer the phone, and now I have to put it on the base to hang it up. Is the problem fixable? The phone set cost me a couple of hundred to get it, I thought by paying for the higher priced ones, I was getting better quality. Was I wrong? I really don't want to replace them.

This problem occurs when an internal oily substance oozes out of the keypad internally. The carbon coating on the internal surface of each key can wear and cause a faulty connection. Two are under the battery pack, two are under the small panel on top back of phone. Pry this off with a steak knife blade. Back of phone then must be pryed off carefully. Remove two small screws that hole electronic panel in place. Remove this panel, do not pull on wires, they can break off easily. Clean all contact surfaces with solvent or alchohol. Wash keypad in soapy water and rinse, dry off with hair dryer. Apply silver as directed. Allow to dry. Reassemble. Or return to store for exchange for a different phone. If you just bought this phone recently and used a credit card, you can dispute the charge, or maybe your credit card automatically extended your warranty, many do. I hope all this helps.
