The simple answer is.. i'm sorry to say it so simple.. no. Here is why. PDA's have volatile RAM memory. This means that when the battery, back-up battery are completely drain out, they cannot keep up powering the RAM memory. When the power cuts off, everything in the RAM memory is lost. The operating sistem and other files specific to it, doesn't get erased as they are stored separately in another kind of memory called ROM. This doesn't get errased when power drains out. The reason why PDA's doesn't have only ROM is because this type of memory is slow and the PDA will operate (read or write data to it) in the same slow manner. Therefore they use the RAM memory wich is faster. The best advice I can give you now is never to let the main battery to drain out completely. Also regular back-ups of the data inside the PDA are usefull for situation where unexpected occur. Feel free to ask more questions and always remember to rate the answers provided from this site ;). The above answer was good, but missed out one minor detail...
IF the PDA was hotsynced with a PC, it would have been backed up. You should be able to restore all of the data on the PDA at that point. Just drop the PDA in the cradle, press the hotsync button, select your PDA's name from the dropdown list, and it should be done in about ten minutes.
Before doing this, I recommend backing up the "backup" data on the PC, just in case something goes wrong.
