printer problem

my printer is printing in purple instead of color......how can i fix this problem?

I would first try replacing the color cartridge.
Then try the cleaning utility.

Double-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon ( ) on the taskbar. The HP Solution Center screen opens.
From the HP Solution Center , click the Settings menu.
Click Printer Toolbox . The Printer Toolbox opens.
Click Clean the Print Cartridges .
Click Clean and then follow the on-screen instructions.

If that doesn't work remove the cartridges and try cleaning in and around the casing with a cotton swab and alcohol.
