Write protected i got a new Maxell Pend Drive and haven't use it since i got it last December..last month i tried to use it to save a video and some photos but there's an error that says i cant save a file on my drive so now i just check if i could make a folder on it but i cant either and i tried to reformat it but it says i cant do it coz its write protected..any possible solution for my problem?..thanks in advance for any advice :)

Click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive E: right click select properties there will be an array of options

select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box

then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7


click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP

click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your usb drive (It should be E:/ or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions
And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

SOURCE: Remove Write Protection

Try this,
1.
Check out if the USB drive has a small swich for write protection. If its there try toggling the switch.

2.
Windows can all write protect flash drives. Check out this registry path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.

You may find a key here on the right side by the name 'WriteProtect'. If it's not there this would not be the cause of problem. If it's there, make sure that the value is 0.

Please let me know if this does'nt work.

HP USB Disk/Drive Format Utility is a Windows based software
used to format drives to FAT, FAT32 and NTFS partition types.


3.a) Download this tool:

3.b) Format pendrive

(Before removing USB flash drive click on the Safely Remove
Hardware icon and then click on USB flash drive you want to remove)
