Sprinkler problem this one uses pins for day and times to start i believe this thing needs more pins there is a pin a 4pm and one at 8pm on the day but only comes on at those pins but next click next to them it shuts off

• pin no.1 brown goes to ground
• pin .no 2 black ignition on
• pin no. 3 red permanent 12 volt

• pin no. 1 yellow trunk lid switch

I think it is more likely sprinkler valve is stuck than timer contacts are fused together.
This is because Intermatic mechanical timers physically pull and push contacts together-apart.
Take trippers all the way out and see if that changes.
Turn off 240V circuit breaker and see if that changes.
Add a comment and let me know what you find.

Usually you see trippers worn down and the sprinkler does not turn on.
