I had a simalar problem with my Dell 2001FP. The issue is that there is false triggering of the switch; you need to open the front panel, and remove the swictch from the circuit by: 1) analyze the circuit; its usally pretty simple - a voltage drop circuit. 2) disable the switch by either removing it with a solder gun or, simply by using a sharp blade and cutting the PCB track leading it to it, as I did.(much easier - and reversible!) Fixed my problem.
