Replace Photoconductor I keep gettin a message to replace photoconductor / Worn Photoconductor. I dont know how to replace it or even where it is, Can someone help. Also when i am printing i get a black line down the middle of the page.

Cheaper to get a new chip for the drum on ebay, last I say was $15.00. I did this myself and it took about 2 minutes and was very easy. Worth saving $250+!

There are several "doors" on the C1100. You need to open the door on the top. You will see an orange handle on top of the photoconductor, to lift it out. You can't lift it out, until you've pulled the orange handle on the far right up first. You then need to buy a new photoconductor - these are £150 - £180 ish. There are cheaper solutions, such as just replacing the "killer chip", which tells the printer how many sheets you've printed, but in my experience, the replacement chips soon become faulty, and render the printer useless. I know it sounds a lot of money to replace the photoconductor, but you need to do a lot of printing before it's time to replace it.

Yes saved me a fortune by replacnig the chip. I got 2 cycles from my drum and at $21.30 from these guys it was a bargain...

I have a C1100, and recently had the same replace photoconductor message. I couldn't afford £170 for a new thing (phoned Epson, they seemed more keen to sell me a complete new printer) so I bought one of the chips from a UK company, Zinetic, (about £20) and so far it has done the job. It resets the photoconductor unit apparently because there is a time limit as well as a real limit to their lifespan. OK the photoconductors don't last forever ... you will have to decide if you can live with that black stripe for a bit longer with a reset chip, or fork out £170.
