I have the same problem, if happens very often but not always, most likely if I don't use the camera for 24 hours. Camera is less than 1 year old, and the small 3V battery cr1220 that should take care of this still measures ok. Maybe a bad contact or something else is broken inside.

I have had the camera for over a year, and this problem only started happening recently.  It happens almost every time I turn the camera on after it has been off for a while.  I am still using the original fast charge batteries.

When you open the battery compartment, there is a small round battery(under the cr1220) slot, lift up this slot and take the battery out and replace it, this is the battery for that function of the camera.
