Palm Tungsten T3 Handheld Logo

Lost Memory I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 360 and paired it with my Motorola V635 phone. My phonebook was transported to the Nuvi & everything seemed to be okay. I was ecstatic! I also paired the Nuvi with my Tungsten T3 & transported some of my Contacts from the Tungsten to the Nuvi. I used the Tungsten later that day & everything seemed to be okay. The next day I tried to turn on my Tungsten & it won't come on! I charged it with my travel charger & it later came on. However, all the messages on the screen guided me through setup (like I was using it for the first time)! All my info I collected for the past 2 years seemed to have disappeared! I had sync'ed my Tungsten with my computer before pairing with the Nuvi, but when I accessed my files on the computer & made indepth checks I found that the majority of my applications weren't updated because my Palm Desktop was set up to "Do Nothing" for most of the applications when sync'ing (this action was selected after my very first sync! - and was set up for me by someone else since @ that time was wasn't familiar with most of the technical stuff). I remember when inputting some of my info I'm sometimes asked if I want it "archived". Is there any chance that my old info still exists in an archive somewhere? If so, how can I go about retrieving it. If there's anyone out there who really knows how I can solve this problem & retrieve my info PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'M DESPERATE

Curiously, my setup is also set to "do nothing" for some apps... but changes on the Palm for those apps are saved to the PC, as they show up in Palm Desktop.

First thing to do is BACK UP YOUR "GOOD" BACKUP DATA ON THE PC. It is easy to accidentally lose everything there, and they you're screwed. Default location is C:\Program Files\PalmOne\XXXXXX, where XXXXXX is the first six letters of your Palm's User ID.

Next thing: Check in PD; are your contacts there? If so, they should reappear on your Palm after a hard reset.

If that does not work, set the conduits to "synchronize" and try again.

Sadly, too many people find out about backups the hard way.
