How do I take apart the hose on the dc24

I'm not sure from your question if you want directions on how to access the hose for use, or how to remove it from the machine to check for blockages.

With the DC24 vacuum do you have the option to turn off the brush heads when you want to vacuum the hard wood floor?

Yes you can turn the brushes off. To do so, press the yellow button near the bottom of the handle above the dirt cannister as shown in the image below:
