Oster 76076-010 Hair Trimmer Logo

Help I bought this Oster animal clipper unit used and wonder how old it is and wonder (even though it sounds loud) the blades don't seem to do any cutting. They marked A2 make in Milwaukee, U.S.A. Their history doesn't matter so much; I just want to trim my horses'manes and trim my dogs. There are a bunch of blades and everything looks very nice. The cap on the back of the trimmer is missing; so, the original owner 'duct-taped' it all together. It runs well and sounds powerful. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong. I oil the blades while they are running but when I try to cut my dog's hair nothing happens. Once or twice I was able to trim a lot of fur (like one or two swipes). I need to do the whole dog and a bit of the horses. Thanks. I'm about to buy another expensive unit and would rather fix this one.

The blades could be dull, dirty, or too loose; or an internal part might need to be replaced.
