Do you have it set on "spot"? This causes Roomba to start out in circles, expanding and expanding until a certain time and then returns by going in circles, making smaller circles, until it gets to its starting point.

My Roomba Discovery (4210) approaches it's home base to recharge at a fast speed, which causes it to fail to line up correctly. Tries to dock over and over at this too fast speed.
There may be a communication issue with
it. See if there is way to reset it. If you have
the owners manual see if there's a way to reset
it.

Goes circles 4210
I had this problem with mine, it was just going in a circle, some people suggested to clean the bump sensor with air, it may work for you, but it didn't for me, I found out that the problem was a servo motor at one of the wheels, bought a refurbished set of wheels, took the Roomba apart and replaced the part, working like a champ.

Reboot is probably not your solution. Your Roomba will react to invisible signals or 'interference' from other electrical appliances as well as the invisible wall boxes. You can clearly see how this happens when a Roomba gets near your computer or other device that is on. Also, the Roomba will go in circles when the dirt chamber is full or it thinks it's full. Try a thorough clean of all major parts including the brushes. Sometimes this activity will occur when the brushes get snarled on thread or carpet fibers.

My Roomba will not charge, the light on the charger is on and when you plug in the roomba the light goes out and nothing happens. Can anyone help. It is a Discovery Model 4210
Are you using the home base or are you plugging the charger directly into the Roomba? If you are using the base, give plugging directly into the unit a try.

You might also try resetting the battery. With the battery out of the unit, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or so. After this is done, plug the charger directly into the unit, and let it charge for 3 days (no kidding, 3 days). After that, if you still have issues, it might be time for a new battery, or time to send the little guy in for repair.

Roomba 4210 replaced aps battery still does not work
Try cleaning the silver contacts on the battery as well as the charging station with a small amount of rubbing alcohol such as an alcohol pad.
Also check to make sure the dirt reserve is completely empty. Also check that the briushes are clear and can move freely.
This 'not charging' is a very common problem with the Roomba and the manufacturers continue to sell rechargable batteries that are no good even though they are aware of the problem.

Irobot discovery
It sounds like the battery is shot. These batteries only work for a couple of years and then they won't accept a charge any more. A common mistake people make is recharging them before they need it. This will make the battery "lazy"

IRobot Roomba Discovery not moving across room.
I had the same kind of problem with my model 400 today...after starting it and having it go in a circle for 30 seconds or so it would finally run into something and then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, etc., etc.. I tried cleaning off the four pairs of sensors under the bumper and blowing out various things underneath (by mouth since I didn't have any canned compressed air). It didn't really help. It then occurred to me that I had a leaf blower! I put the Roomba upside down on the grass, put the leaf blower on high, and blew at it from all directions and up close. More dust came out than I thought would. It has been running normally now for the last 45 minutes.
