Torque setting for head bolts
SOURCE: head bolts torque settings
According to my haynes manual for G-S reg, 1989-1998 it goes as follows,
Stage 1:- Tighten all bolts by hand until bolt heads just contact cyl. head.
Stage 2:-Tighten all bolts to 40Nm or 30lb ft.
Stage 3:-Angle tighten all bolts a further 60 degrees.
Stage 4:-Angle tighten all bolts again a further 60 degrees.
Stage 5:- M12 x 140mm bolts ONLY angle tighten a further 20 degrees.
Hope this helps everyone, sorry it seems longwinded but that is how it's written in the manual.

SOURCE: Torque pattern
I went to my local Tractor Supply store and they had 1 manual that covered my tractor. It had the torque pattern in it. I purchased a torque wrench while I was there and went home and installed the head myself. First time I ever tackled a job like this. After assembling all the other parts and giving the breather a little shot of either, it fired right up , hooked a set of 3 plows to it and put it to work. Thanks for your interest, Donald
