Printer problem Our UXB700 has worked like a champ for five years. Today however we are receiving a "printer error" error message. We have received several faxes but they do not print but go into memory. Interestingly after checkjing for a paper jam and opening the door to the cartrige exchange area the cartrige remains in the right most position while we hear a whirring sound. Then the display flashes between "fax in memory" and "printer error" messages. I have even tried unplugging and plugging in the machine but the same "wait a moment" display flashes then the whirring sound that lasts for 10 or 15 seconds. The cartrige can move and has moved past the cartrige exchange area only to return to the right most position and remain fixed there whilst the whirring sound occurs.

It sounds like a bad encoder strip (ribbon cable). Uneconomical to repair.
