My e8 has error 8

I had this problem and it turned out to be grounds caught in the machine. turn machine off, remove drawer, tray & used coffee container. turn machine on, replace drawer & tray. machine should drop grounds on the tray. remove tray, toss grounds, replace tray & used coffee container

The E8 actually comes apart pretty easily. The slightly oval 'rivet' looking things are actually just screws. They can be easily removed with a vise-grip or pliers. You will also have to remove some torx screws, so you will need to have a torx wrench on hand (actually 2 different sizes).
The E8 error is simply coffee grounds clogging up the mechanism. Once you have the covers off, it is still a bit difficult to get at everything but it should be enough. Simply leaving it open and allowing it to dry out thouroughly seems to work in itself. I have actually just run a hairdryer in there to dry out the hard to reach grounds.
However, I recommend plugging the unit in and watching it run through some rinse cycles. Use a flashlight to see, and then follow through with a dry cloth and get as much gound coffee out as possible.
The other symptom which can easily be fixed when you have the machine apart is when water/coffee is pouring out above the intended release, i.e., not out of the spout. This happens just from being dirty and clogged and is super simple to fix and very satisfying! The front grey, plastic, sliding cover pops off and exposes all the residual coffee gunk that is giving you trouble. Just take it apart carefully and clean and your machine will be as good as new.
Once you take it apart once, you will see it is not that difficult and you'll be happy:) We open it up about every 6-8 months now just to clean it. Trust me, when you see what builds up in there, you will want to also.
Or you could send it away and spend $300-$500 for an upgrade. The worst part of that is being without your coffee machine for a few weeks.
OF COURSE....be very careful when it is plugged in. Electricity kills :)
I compare all of this in difficulty to......well, my wife can do it. So can my 10 yr old son. Probably if you can put together a piece of IKEA furniture and you know what a torx is, you can do this.
