Did you connect your camera to the computer with its cable or did you plug in the SD memory card directly into your computer ?
I had the same error, every time I connected my camera to my computer with the usb cable. I tried to copy my photo's and video's several times and every time I had the same error, but each time with different pictures. Then I tried to plug in the SD memory card directly into my laptop and it worked fine for me.
By the way, I have a Nikon Coolpix S9500 and an Sandisk Ultra (30MB/s) 64GB SD card. My laptop is a DELL Vostro 1720. I don't know if it's relevant.

SOURCE: Nikon S8100. Lens won't go

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you remove the battery of the camera. Let it sit for atleast 5mins. then insert the battery. Turn the camera on and observe how it goes, this should reset the system and can resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one and happy holidays!

Tracking a subject is one thing but, taking an action picture is something else altogether. You will need to set the ISO to a higher number to force the shutter to set a faster speed stop the action.

SOURCE: lens error. lens is

A lens error can be caused by physical damage to the mechanism that controls the lens, or debris that is interfering with the operation of the lens.

This article may be able to help you with a "do it yourself" solution.
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

In the event that your problem is due to physical damage and not just dirt or debris, you will need to take it to a local camera repair shop for troubleshooting-- though with most consumer digital cameras, labor and parts cost of a repair can easily exceed the value of the camera.
