    uniden d1780-2bt. Do not see intercom button. This is a gift for a non-tech relative and I want her to be able to make a quick intercom call in an emergency. Does she really have to wade through Menu to make intercom call?

    yep, tried all, read online manual which did not give instructions on intercom - can't call out or recv calls!

Try pressing the intercom button (base) above the number 1, on the handset the intercom button is below the # button.
Intercom?
Whenever the phone is in standby, you can make an intercom call
between stations without using the phone line.

You can make an intercom call from any station, but only two stations
can be in an intercom call at any time.

If an outside call comes in during an intercom page, the phone cancels
the page so you can answer the incoming call.
?f an outside call comes in during an intercom page, the phone cancels the page so you can answer the incoming call.

If an outside call comes in during an intercom call, press
speaker on the base or talk/flash on the handset to hang up the intercom call and
answer the outside call

How does one use the intercom
To Page another phone to initiate intercom:-

From the base station - press Find hs/Intercom.
From a handset - Press Intercom/clear.

Then select the station you want to talk with or All to
page all stations at the same time.

To answer a page:-

From the base station - press Find hs /Intercom or Speaker.
From a handset - press Intercom/clear or Talk/Flash.

Intercom uniden D1688
After reading the manual over and over with no success, I got the hint to successfully do an intercom call by reading a post from a website.. The manual says to press the Intercom buttom. Then select the phone you wish to intercom with (or All phones) - do this by using the up-down button. The step left out of the manual is: THEN press the MENU key. It works perfectly!!

Cordles reset on my uniden 2.4ghz model exi424c
