Unplug the base and phone connection. Remove battery. After a minute plug in phone and connection and then put the battery back into phone slot.
It worked for me!

I solved this problem with a RESET of the handset. Instructions from the Philips website: Please perform a reset of your device. You will not loose your recorded data (phonebook and personal settings are being kept). 1. Unplug the mains of the base station. 2. Remove one of the batteries of each handset. 3. Put the batteries back in and re-plug the mains of the base station.

Here are the directions from Panasonic's Website. I just tried them and it worked perfectly. Re-registering the Handset If ?No link to base. Move closer to base, try again.? is displayed even when using the handset near the base unit, the handset may have lost communication with the base unit. You need to re-register the handset to the base unit. ? Make sure the base unit is not being used. ? Have both the handset and base unit nearby during registration. ? Follow steps 1 and 2 listed below. You have about 1 minute to complete them. 1 Base unit: Press and hold [HANDSET LOCATOR] until a beep sounds. ? The CHARGE indicator flashes. 2 Handset: Press and hold [FLASH/CALL WAIT] until ?Handset Registering? is displayed. ? When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset. ? Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete while the handset establishes communication with the base unit. ? If the handset beeps 3 times and ?Error!!? is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1. ? You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing

The RF section in this unit is located in a removable module. Unfortunately, the connector on this module uses really cheap metals that oxidize (tarnish) after several years... this allows Uniden to make an extra $1 in profit on each phone, and guarantees the phone won't last very long (so you will buy a new one soon). If the handset still works the way it normally does when "out of range," this procedure MAY restore your phone to working condition: 0. Disassemble the base unit. 1. Unscrew & remove the RF module. 2. Remove the shiny plastic shell (fake shielding). 3. Gently clean the exposed contacts with a "dremel" type rotary wire brush at low speed. 4. Spray PLASTIC-SAFE electronic contact cleaner into the socket.* 5. Mate/un-mate the connector 5 to 10 times. 6. Rinse the socket with ammonia from a spray bottle (to provide some pressure). 7. Allow the ammonia to evaporate completely (do not apply heat). 8. Re-install the RF module. 9. Power on & test. Maybe it's good for a couple more years! *OBEY ALL HEALTH PROTECTION GUIDELINES FOR CONTACT CLEANER; A SINGLE EXPOSURE TO THESE CHEMICALS CAN HAVE MEASURABLE EFFECTS ON YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.

I unplugged the base unit from the wall plug and re-connected it. I was able to link with the base after this.

Try leaving it on the base for a while, overnight. It might resync. Do you have another similar cordless in the house? if you do and someone accidentally placed a phone on the wrong base, that would result in both of them loosing communication with the bases, untill you placed them back in their own bases. Good luck
