I have an err4 on my kitchenaid coffee pot. I have unplugged it several times and pushed each button each time but it keeps popping up with the error. It turns on every time I plug it back in before the error pops up but I can get the unit turned off before the error appears.

Had the same problem after cleaning. ERR4 is the result of moisture in the electronics. FIRST UNPLUG COFFEE MAKER. Get a long philips screwdriver and remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the coffee maker. Pull the bottom off and carefully unclip the front panel. The circuit card is simply clipped in so it removes nicely by unclipping with your fingers. Now take a hair dryer and dry out the circuit card. Carefully plug the maker back in and verify that the LED nolonger reads ERR4. Reassemble and your back in business!

I determined that the electronics must have gotten wet some way during cleaning. I took all the removable parts out and left the flip tops for the coffee basket and water area open all night to dry out. The coffee maker now works. No more err4 or "tESt". HOWEVER, the on/off button does not work now. I have to use the auto-brew feature with the timer to get it to make coffee (just setting it one minute ahead). At that point, the on/off button light will turn on, but the button doesn't function. Hope this can help you.

Wish i hadda done the hair dryer trick. contacted an idiot at customer service. was informed the heating element was burned out, no replacement parts available. had the piece of junk for 14 months, warranty only good for a year. paid about 120 for the unit. customer service offered to sell me another one for 20 bucks off. told them to shove it, bought a mr coffee, works twice as good for half the price and double the warranty. will never buy kitchenaid, roper or any other appliances made by kitchenaid ever again.
