SOURCE: can't program the homelink system
Have you remembered to push the little button on the head of the garage door. most of the new ones use a rolling code and you have to push the button and make it flash, then you just hold your button on you home link, it blinks slow I think then blinks fast. and you are done.

I don't think it's a problem with the homelink opener in your RX300. Try resynching it again with the garage door opener. Mine failed to work once and I just resynched and it's been OK for months now.
SOURCE: The buttons for garage will not program in my Lexus RX 330 2004
The buttons inside the vehicle are syncronized/programmed with the operatus that physically opens and closes your garage door, not the operner... The garage door opener needs to have a "programming" feature switch that must be set to "programming" before you can program the buttons inside the car...
There are step by step instructions in your owners manual... This could be a 2 person operation...
I have a 2004 RX and had the same problem, simply because I didn't follow the instructions precisely..
Good luck...Oz
SOURCE: Garage door opener - homelink system - will not program
I couldn't program the first one, but I was able to program the 2nd button. I programmed it from the main system and not the remote. I also had a hard time programming remote to homelink.

The Learn Button is in a Silver little metal box that is in the opener housing but separate from the opener itself, pry off the case which kinda wraps around the reciever, it will say liftmaster of chamberlain the learn button will be in the reciever
