I have a 2002 lancer with 96,000 miles on it.
I had a new timing belt and water pump put on a couple of months ago.
Would that have anything to do with the car vibrating real loud when the car is coming to a stop. Once the car is stop there is no more loud vibration. My front brakes were changed last August. could this be making the car vibrate. We also experince a lot of road noise. but I assume this is from the tires. Which I just had rotated and balanced,

Sounds like outer carrier axel bearing problem. Safety hazard exist. It could lockdown and damage your brake components. Investigate soon. Change both CV axels when you replace the bearings. You will be money and time ahead.

sounds more like a wheel bearing,jack the car up and support with axle stands,then grab the front left wheel at both sides and shake it hard.then grab it at the top and bottom and shake it hard.if a knocking can be felt through the wheel then its most likely a wheel bearing.repeat the test for the rear wheel.also with the vehicle jacked up,spin the wheel and put your ear next to it,if it makes a dry whirring or grinding sound as it spins,this is a symptom of a worn wheel bearing

Does it vibrate all the time at 60 or only when you apply the brake?
